Why get an oil change in Idaho Falls?

Nearly all vehicle manufacturers recommend changing your oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles to accommodate for “severe driving conditions.” The “severe driving conditions” referred to in your owner’s manual include the following:

  • Dusty driving conditions
  • Extremely cold weather (which we have plenty of in Idaho!)
  • Carrying a heavy load or towing a trailer
  • Trips of under 10 miles
  • Idling for long periods of time

One of the few maintenance items that automobile manufacturers have not found a way to eradicate is regular oil changes.  Regular oil changes in Idaho Falls are the best way to ensure longer engine life. If you frequently take short trips where the car doesn’t always completely warm up, then oil changes in Idaho Falls are even more important because acid and moisture buildup does not have a chance to burn off.  Some new engines typically run very hot and are very tough on oil. With as little as 15,000 miles on the odometer, Even missing a single oil change at Power Lube on these cars can force an engine to develop sludge which can cause engine damage in a car.  Today’s modern oils contain additives and detergents that are designed to protect against sludge formation, but if you regularly do a lot of stop and go driving, like rush hour driving, engine heat will eventually break down these additives so that they stop protecting your engine.  Sludge problems are NOT covered by a new car warrantee.  You might be stuck with a bill for major engine work!  It happens more times than you think, usually to people who lease their car and think that they can get away with not doing proper maintenance. At Power Lube in Idaho Falls, we can help you avoid all the hassle.
